"This is Ladyland, free from sin and harm. Virtue herself reigns here." – 'Sultana's Dream'

In their garden of knowledge, a vast conservatory full of books and scientific papers, three wise women carry out the work of their vegetal predecessors.

Caretakers of nature's gifts, they move about in cogitation and speak in the language of reason, growing, categorising and identifying flora.

A primal intrusion into the protected paradise of their knowledge-harvesting sets them a conundrum:

Can their intruder be nurtured and imbued with their own deep knowledge? Is it malign or beneficent, and how can they tell?

As they hypothesise, the evidence begins to suggest a dark and absurd truth about The Other.

Clockfire Theatre delves into the rhythms of nature and the fragility of a sacred wilderness only reachable to those who evade trampling the garden.

This project is supported with funding from The Joan's Q-Lab Artist in Residency program, Hothouse Theatre's A Month in the Country residency and Ainslie and Gorman Arts Centres as part of the Flash Residency Program 2017.

* Premium Adult patrons will be given first choice of seating each performance night. As well as securing the best seats in the house, it gives you a chance to invest further in the development of the work you are seeing and allows the Old 505 Theatre to continue to be a vital incubation space for new work.
